OBJECTS AND PURPOSE

The Award provides a grant of up to £500 to support a recent leaver to undertake a project of work overseas that will achieve one or more of the outcomes below.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES

The outcome of the project of work must aim to achieve one or more of these objectives:

  1. the relief of poverty overseas
  2. the advancement of education in developing countries
  3. the advancement of health provision or the saving of lives in developing countries
  4. the advancement of community development in developing countries
  5. the advancement of environmental protection or improvement in developing countries
  6. the advancement of animal welfare in developing countries
  7. the relief of those in need, by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability or other disadvantage in developing countries

What to include your application

When writing your application for the Award, be clear about:

what the outcomes of your charitable work will be
where these outcomes will happen
how you will achieve these outcomes
who will benefit from these outcomes

Participated in International Citizen Service as a Team Leader in Uganda helping develop local businesses and cooperatives.

Operation Raleigh Expedition to Morogoro Tanzania – working in orphanage, school and in the Udzungua Forest Project community.

Isobel Hughes (2011)
Combined travel and voluntary work around Europe, the Middle East and Australia prior to studying Medicine at St. Andrews.

Environmental and ecological projects in Honduras.

Laura-Beth Pilkington (2006)
Aids education and prevention in South Africa

HOW TO APPLY

(1) If you have left the School this summer apply by letter detailing your project before 31st October
to the Hon Secretary, CAOKS at adrian.a.ackroyd@gmail.com.
(2) If you are a recent leaver, up to age 25, apply by letter detailing your project at any time during the year
to the Hon Secretary, CAOKS at adrian.a.ackroyd@gmail.com.
